JOB DETAILS:
The Warehouse Worker position entails managing and maintaining inventory, handling materials, ensuring safety compliance, and performing manual labor tasks for the General Services Office under the Non-Expendables Storekeeper’s supervision. The job requires safe handling of equipment, efficient inventory management, and supporting embassy operations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Operations and Maintenance (70%)
• Load/unload expendable and non-expendable items (e.g., furniture, appliances).
• Operate mechanical tools like forklifts and trolleys for safe transport.

• Assist with packing/unpacking welcome kits and distribute supplies.

• Perform housekeeping tasks, safety checks, and notify the supervisor of discrepancies.
• Serve as an incidental operator for official vehicles, including supply pickup and delivery.
2. Inventory (20%)
• Maintain logs for incoming and outgoing warehouse items.
• Conduct annual inventories, inspect items, and identify theft/damage risks.
• Inspect residences and report damaged/missing items for replacement.
• Support item sales or disposal arrangements.
3. Other Assigned Duties (10%)
• Provide manual labor for visits/events (e.g., setting up rooms, safeguarding property).
• Escort visitors, contractors, or non-cleared employees.
• Offer manual assistance to other sections as needed.

Qualifications Required
a. Education
• Completion of primary school.
b. Prior Work Experience
• At least 2 years of manual labor or warehouse work experience.

c. Training
• On-the-job training in U.S. Government (USG) safety standards and warehouse equipment operations.

• Training in property management and customer service.
• Completion of SMITH system Defensive Driver Safety Training (renewed every 2 years).
d. Language Proficiency
• English: Level I (Rudimentary knowledge) – Reading/Speaking.
• Luganda: Level II (Limited knowledge) – Reading/Speaking.
e. Job Knowledge
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, safety/security standards, and inventory processes.
• Familiarity with efficient use of warehouse storage space.
f. Skills and Abilities
• Ability to lift up to 51 lbs (23 kg) under OSHA standards.
• Proficiency in operating warehouse equipment like forklifts and hand trolleys.
• Capable of working in extreme weather conditions (cold, heat, high winds).
• Valid Class B driver’s license with at least 5 years of driving experience.

Position Elements
• Supervision Received: Direct supervision by the Non-Expendables Storekeeper.
• Supervision Exercised: N/A.
• Guidelines: Includes 6 FAH-1 Regulations, SOPs, SHEM guidelines, and verbal instructions.
• Judgment: Required for proper handling and minimizing waste or damage.
• Contacts: Regular interaction with Embassy/Consulate staff, contractors, landlords, and vendors.
• Time to Full Performance: 3 months.
