The Power and Electricity International Expo 2024 kicked off at the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association (UMA) grounds in Kampala on Friday, promising to be a significant event for the energy sector.

This year’s expo will feature cutting-edge innovations and technologies from countries such as Kenya, India, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, among others.

During the launch, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, represented by Undersecretary Grace Tusiime, emphasized the expo’s importance in advancing Uganda’s energy agenda.

“This expo will significantly contribute to our energy excess agenda and create numerous business opportunities in the country,” Tusiime said.

Her remarks highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging such events to boost the energy sector and attract international business partnerships.

The expo boasts a diverse range of exhibitors, including manufacturers and suppliers of power products, as well as importers and exporters dealing in electricals, electronics, renewable energy, and solar products.

Dr Ezra Muhumuza Rubanda, executive director of the Uganda Manufacturers’ Association, expressed enthusiasm about the potential of the expo to foster valuable connections and showcase technological advancements.

“We encourage Ugandans to come and meet global industry leaders, explore cutting-edge technologies, and build valuable partnerships,” Rubanda said.

He underscored the importance of networking and knowledge exchange, urging attendees to take full advantage of the opportunities presented by the expo.

Rubanda’s call to action was clear: “Come and network with over 100 companies from all over the globe operating in the energy sector.” His invitation highlights the expo’s role as a platform for both local and international stakeholders to collaborate and drive progress in the energy industry.
