EACOP recently participated in the Uganda-Tanzania Business Forum 2024, an event aimed at enhancing investment in key sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, trade, agribusiness, tourism, financial services, and extractive industries, including oil and gas. Currently, the trade volume between Tanzania and Uganda stands at an impressive $400 million (about 1.04 trillion Tanzanian Shillings), highlighting the significant economic ties between the two nations.

Organized by the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) and the Ugandan High Commission in Tanzania, in collaboration with the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU), the forum brought together participants from both the private and public sectors. This year’s forum was particularly significant as it emphasized cross-border investments and collaborations, crucial for the economic growth of both countries.

EACOP was well-represented at the forum, with its Deputy Managing Director, John Bosco Habumugisha, among the key presenters. His presentation highlighted the strategic importance of the EACOP project in enhancing regional trade and investment. EACOP also had an exhibition booth, showcasing its initiatives and progress, thereby attracting interest from various stakeholders in attendance.

The involvement of EACOP in the Uganda-Tanzania Business Forum 2024 emphasized its involvement in fostering regional economic development and points out the potential for increased collaboration between Tanzania and Uganda in the oil and gas sector. As the region continues to develop its extractive industries, such forums are pivotal in driving investment and strengthening economic partnerships.
